December Favorites & January Currently

Well, December flew by quickly didn’t it?  I’ve got a twofer for you today.  My December favorites and the January Currently.  So industrious of me.

The Slated series by Teri Terry-love this series! Flew through books 1&2 . . . . only to realize book 3 doesn’t come out until May 1st.  I hate when that happens!

My sister-in-law introduced me to Flip Pix which has replaced my Candy Crush time wasting obsession.  Not sure if I should thank her though.  It’s so addicting.
There are multiple levels and a bunch of puzzles in each app.  There is a free one, so you can try it out.  If you dare.  If you’re aSudoku fan, you'll like this one, too.

My mom got me this beauty for Christmas.  Now I’m obsessed with getting more colored Alex and Ani bracelets.  Which I needed about as much as the Flip Pix obsession.
I got this shirt from my November Stitch Fix but just wore it recently.  Holy Moly.  I love all these cute sleeve shirts, but I like being able to bend my arm more.  Instead of buttoning at the elbow, it have a v, so you can actually move your arm.  It’s my new fave.
Last but not least, this wreath.  I managed to the most tangle skein of yarn in the universe, so it took waaaay longer than it should have.  I love the way it turned out though!  I used my Silhouette to cut the felt.  It didn’t cut all the way through, but it was still a million times better than tracing and cutting.

Oh' Boy 4th Grade is hosting her monthly Currently linky.  Here’s what’s going on with me:
Listening: Our Murray man is turning 1 today.  (He’s a shelter dog, so we got to pick his birthday.)  The party was epic.  There were decorations, games, arts and crafts, food, and party treats.  All the work was done by my two little ladies, and they had a blast.

Loving: Mr. Fancy Pants Business Man has been home with us for quite a bit of the break, and I’m loving having him in the house with us.  He’s been crazy busy lately, so it’s nice just to have him around.

Thinking: My word of the year is Rhythm.  There have been lots of {good} changes in our life during 2013, but I’m still looking for the rhythm of our new normal.

Wanting: Dining room chairs.  I still love our table, but I’m thinking new chairs would liven the place up a bit.  Not sure if I want this enough to actually save up and pay for them.  It’s more of a random thought.  I’ll have to marinate on that one for awhile.

Needing: If any finds my motivation to exercise, please let me know.  It’s been lost for a loooong time.

Tradition: We collect memories from during the year in a memory jar and read them on New Year’s Eve or New Year’s Day.  Love hearing what everyone thought was memorable from the year.

  1. Hi Megan-
I absolutely love your idea of the memory jar, what a great tradition.
Like you, I am seriously lacking motivation for working out. Have you tried making a fitness board on Pinterest? I'm pinning like crazy, hoping it'll get me off the couch.
    Have a great New Year!

  2. We used to do a memory jar in our family when I was little, as well. We would write down things we were grateful for throughout the year and then read them all at once. What a beautiful tradition! I'm a total book-a-holic and now MUST go check out slated on amazon! Thanks for the book tip!

  3. I love the idea of a memory jar. I think I will do that. I'm not sure I can get my three teenagers to do it but I'm pretty sure they would like to hear those memories at the end of the year.

  4. I love that your girls threw Murray a birthday party!! So fun!!
    A Tall Drink of Water

  5. My sister throws her dog a b-day party every year. It's not so bad when teenagers do it, but when a 30-something year old woman does it's weird, just weird!

  6. I seriously think your motivation to exercise ran off with mine....probably sunning in Hawaii or somewhere like that.
    Love the wreath----pretty!

  7. I so want to start a memory jar. Such a wonderful idea. I just told my hubby and he thinks it is a great idea as well.

  8. A memory jar is such a great idea...pinning that in my mind lol! The pictures of Murray's bday party were precious.

  9. You must have read my mind...I'm looking for new books to read. I think Slated is right up my alley so I'm off to add that to my wish list :)
    Stories by Storie

  10. If you find that motivation to exercise, can you send some my way? I used to be SOOOO good about it, but I've been a coach potato for more than a year now. It's daunting to think about starting over, but I know it's not going to get any easier. I HAVE to do this!

  11. I'm impressed that the Silhouette even partially cuts through felt. I have a cabinet full of felt AND styrofoam wreaths waiting to be decorated. lol If you ever need a walking or wogging buddy let me know!

  13. How do you like Stitch Fix? I've been thinking of giving it a try, but haven't had the chance to talk to anyone that uses it.

  14. I had to check out Flip Pix - just might be my new favorite game now! Your bracelet is beautiful! I love the beaded ones. Enjoy your new year! ~ Lisa

  15. I'm going to have to check out Flip Pix. I love Sudoku, and I stopped Candy Crush at level 104 I think. It just made me want to throw my iPad, Mac, and iPhone out the window. And I just started my memory jar today for the first time. There's already one memory for 2014. Thanks for the book suggestion. I am always looking for a new book. Have you read the Delirium series? It's so good.

  16. Great December favorites! I’m intrigued by that series. I’m looking for something to read for fun. Those Alex and Ani bracelets are so pretty! I got the “teacher” one for Christmas. Now, I want the colored bracelets to add to my collection.

  17. Awww, I love the idea of an elaborate party for your puppy! :) I think the jar is a great family tradition. I used to do a Joy Jar in the classroom, next year I think I'll do that and share it with them the day we come back from break.
